“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health in the bones”  (Proverbs 16:24).

Often I hear people say they don’t understand the Bible.  When asked if they’ve read it, the answer is, “No.”  Understanding comes by reading the Word.  I don’t know how to exist without reading God’s Word on a daily basis.  I have found it to be both pleasant and profitable in my life.

Honey was not only a luxury but a medicine for the Israelites.  Solomon, the author of Proverbs, had learned the value of eating from the honeycomb.  It tasted good and it brought strength to the body.

Many things are pleasant but not profitable.  Not so with the precious Word of God; it is both pleasant and profitable!  The bones are the strength of the body, and the good Word of God is a means of spiritual strength, curing diseases of the soul that weaken us.

The medical world is concerned about the strength of your bones; they will do a test to measure your bone density.  If God performed a bone density test on my soul, where would I stand?

Try consuming more of the Bible and you will find strength to go on.

Prayer:  Today, I’ve decided to consume more of Your Word and less of other writings.  Your Book is on top of all other books I read.  It’s first place in my life.  I refuse to read anything else before I read Your Word!
