“Our LORD, I will remember the things you have done, your miracles of long ago. I will think about each one of your mighty deeds.”
Psalms 77:11-12 CEV
Do you remember the old song titled “Count your blessings, name them one by one?”
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
Sometimes, especially in chaos, we need to remember past miracles. We are surrounded by confusion and weariness right now, and it’s easy to overlook everyday blessings such as our home, church, family, and provisions.
In Deuteronomy 8, we can read of the Hebrew people being reminded of all that God had done for them. We learn how He led them through the wilderness for 40 years and provided every need they had: clothing, food, water, and shelter. Moses gave a strict warning to the people to never to forget all that God had done for them.
It’s beneficial for us to take a few minutes each day and remember all God has done for us. Gratitude is often the remedy for discontent.
What has God done for you? Remember it, tell it, write it down, and declare it.
