“And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:4

One of the hosts on our local radio station begins his program each day with a “Shout Out” to people or organizations that are contributing to the well-being of our city during this uncertain time.  He sometimes singles out individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty for the sake of others.  He speaks of organizations who are doing whatever they can to help people cope in these trying circumstances.

I am so thankful for our faithful pastors and church leaders who have been willing to learn new technology and ways to reach out to their followers.  In my estimation they need a big “shout out” from all of us. After having not been in a live church service for eight months, I really appreciate the live streams for Sunday gatherings and weekly Bible studies.  Also, to meet with fellow believers in a focused prayer meeting each week has been a great blessing and encouragement.

This verse in Jeremiah really stood out to me.  I am thankful for the shepherd of our flock who has made sure that we have not been lacking in opportunities to hear the Word of God and to worship together from our homes. I am thankful for the Sunday School teachers, Children’s Church, and Youth leaders who have made a great effort to provide an online experience for the children and young people in our congregations.  I am also thankful for those who have continued to teach Home Bible studies online, so that people who are hungry for the Lord have been able to continue receiving attention.

We also have a group of people who have dedicated one hour a week to pray for the leaders in our church and in our District.  We pray for all of those who are involved in health care, teaching in our schools, and involved in all essential services.  There are others who make regular phone calls to the senior members of our church and are making sure they have everything they need.

Let’s take a few moments today to think of all those pastors and other leaders who are faithfully contributing to our well being.  Pray for them, that the Lord will continue to lead them and give them strength.  Together, let’s give them a big “Shout Out.”

Prayer:  Jesus, thank you for the pastors and leaders that you have placed over us.  Help us to appreciate all that they do for us.
