Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of out faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2. The question must be asked, What kind of joy would…
Let’s start with a few scriptures from the NKJV translation and see if you can tell what they have in common. John 4:5, 7: “So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. A woman…
“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. “And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have…
“And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” (I John 2:17, ESV) I recently came across some boxes I’d stored in my basement. Sorting through them was long overdue. As you can imagine, many things went straight into the…
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine…

“Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,” (John 6:67-68 Holy Bible, New King James). Many followers of Jesus became discouraged and left. After all, he was a transient leader with no designated meeting place, teaching in the desert, the seashore, the marketplace. Apostle Peter’s question and statement is often referred to as his declaration of faith because of the astounding simplicity. He understood that Jesus had the words of eternal life. There was no better place to go.

I have a friend in Louisiana who has cancer that has spread throughout her body. Her prognosis is that she will be gone from this life in a few short weeks. Delisa just turned 50 and it seems to me it’s too young to be leaving us. She is a vibrant leader who serves with her husband in leadership. She wrote a note to her friends stating that leaving this world and going to be with Jesus was what her life was all about.
I think she read Revelation 2:10,
“Fear none of those things which thou shall suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
Yes, there is a crown of life waiting for those who are faithful! What an assurance for those who serve the Lord.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to inherit that crown of life. Give me strength to be faithful unto death for there is a crown of life just for me.

“And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life,” (1John 2:25, Holy Bible, New King James).

Ask a dozen random people if they believe in eternity and the answers will lean toward negatives. Ask a dozen born-again believers about eternal life and you will get smiles added to positive reactions. Jesus lived to die, died to be resurrected and was resurrected to provide eternal life to humanity. The simplicity of His promise to us is eternal life. Not alone, but with Him because we have His promise “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:15, Holy Bible, New King James).
