How big is God?

“(God) has measured the oceans in the palm of his hand…(God) has used His hand to measure the sky…(God) has used a bowl to measure all the dust of the earth…” (Isaiah 40:12, New Century Version)

If He could hold a tsunami in the palm of His hand, If He could measure a tornado by the distance between His thumb and forefinger, if one of His serving bowls could hold all of the sand on earth, then I’d say God’s Big Enough.

Big Enough to pay your bills. Big Enough to heal your sickness. Big Enough to solve any problem in your life!

How big is God? Big Enough!

Prayer: God, I thank-you that You are bigger than all my problems. I praise You that You are Big Enough to meet all my needs.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

Someone said that impatience is “waiting in a hurry.” I am prone to do a lot of waiting in a hurry. My stress level rises as each delay and obstacle presents itself. Fretful and tense, I struggle through the day.

What a waste! Although it may not be possible to relax amid our stress and chaos, we can rest in God. He has everything under control. What peace can be found when we relinquish our impatience into His Hands.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to remember that nothing is ever out of control when You are in control. We wait upon You today. You are our strength. You are our peace.

“And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:” (Revelation 1:17 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). While serving a prison sentence on the island of Patmos, the Apostle John was acutely aware of his aloneness and in need of renewed courage from the Lord. The “right hand” of God is synonymous with His power. At this low point in his life, John said, “And he laid his right hand upon me.”
Prayer: Lord, I ask You to place Your right hand of power on me so that I can face this day with confidence and courage. I ask for the same assurance of Your presence and power as You gave the apostle John when You placed Your hand on him.

“And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi {that is, The LORD my banner}:”(Exodus 17:15 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible). The Word of God reminds us today that we must construct altars of remembrance for the victories we have won while holding high the banner of His Name. The track record of God’s faithfulness should give us courage to face any obstacle in our future.

Prayer: Most High God, when I call You my Jehovah-Nissi, I have effectively raised the banner of Your sovereignty over every circumstance in my life. If I will uphold the awesome Name of Jesus, I will experience victory today and everyday! Amen.

“By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them…. But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection” (Hebrews 11: 33 and 35). There is a popular notion about prayer which assumes that the thing asked for ought to be the object of faith. But the Bible tells us the only absolutes we can trust and be assured of are the character of God, His love, His will that we be conformed to His Son’s likeness and His sovereign control of the universe. If the thing we ask for is not given or it doesn’t happen, our faith may waver and even dissolve. But if faith latches on to the reality of God’s sovereignty; if it believes in the darkest storm that all things work together for good to them that love God, then faith itself becomes our victory regardless of the outcome!
Prayer: Lord, help me to put my trust completely in You – to keep my shield of faith lifted high even when Your answer is no, or not yet or wait.

Psalm 139:1-4 from the Holy Bible, New Century Version: “Lord, You have examined me and know all about me. You know my thoughts before I think them. You know where I go and where I lie down. You know thoroughly everything I do. Lord, even before I say a word, You know it” Even when nobody else knows, God knows. When you’re hurting, God knows. When you’re lonely, God knows. When you’re afraid, God knows. God knows what you are going to say, before you say it. He knows. He cares. He’s waiting right now for you to talk to Him. Share your heart with Him. Tell Him your dreams. Tell Him your fears. He understands how you feel. He wanted you to know that.

prayer: All Knowing God, I’m glad you know all about me and love me anyway. Teach me to share my deepest feelings with You.

The LORD is your protector, and he won’t go to sleep or let you stumble. The protector of Israel doesn’t doze or ever get drowsy” (Psalm 121:3-4 in the Contemporary English Version of the Holy Bible). There is so much injustice in our world today. But, God is aware of every violent crime. He knows about the illness that has taken a loved one away. He knows all about pain and suffering. He sees it all. God has not abdicated His throne and He has not abandoned His plan to one day set all things right.

Prayer: Lord, You know the difficult situations I face. You see; You hear; and I have this assurance that nothing escapes Your attention. Thank You for watching over me! Amen.
