“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8 Back to the scripture we used in the first of this series, knowing that we can…
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8 Micah, who was a prophet at the same time as Isaiah and Hosea was warning the…
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:14, NKJV) A friend recently called me with a serious question: how does one forgive the unforgiveable. “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.) “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is how we often quote this scripture. […]
“O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself” (Psalm 45:1 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).
There are few more difficult disciplines for a human being than learning to abandon our desire to avenge injustice committed against us or those around us. The senseless violence, hurtful comments, or emotional injuries that I or others have suffered is not mine to rectify. The Bible declares that God is the avenger and He is well prepared to defend His children. God will restore what has been lost either in this life or the one to come. Our responsibility is to trust God’s timing, and to bless rather than curse those who despitefully use us.
Prayer: Lord, don’t allow hatred to gain a foothold in my life. I can and will live in victory! Amen.
