“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Each of us is given one body to use to do the work God has called us to do on earth. Popular opinion says, “This is my body, I can do whatever I want with it.” And that leads to disastrous results.

The Bible tells us that our bodies belong to God. He loans them to us to use while we are alive. We are stewards of our bodies and everything we do with them should glorify Him and make His Spirit feel welcome inside us.

So when we are tempted with physical sin, we need to remember 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. This is not just any old body… it is the temple of the Holy Ghost. It is on loan for the purpose of glorifying our Creator.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the body You have given me to dwell in on earth. May I always glorify You in both my body and my spirit.

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8

As children of God, we have access to so many things: healing, cleansing, resurrection and delivering power. And as His stewards, we are also provided with resources to carry out His work.

God gives to us freely and expects us to give to others freely. Generosity is a character trait that flows out of a heart full of the love of God. When we see a brother or sister in need and we are able to help them, we should not hesitate to do so.

And even if we cannot help them financially, we can minister to them through the power of prayer. We can let God’s love flow through us freely to help them in their time of need.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the things You so freely give me. Let me have open hands to share with others and minister to their needs.

“Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

A steward is someone charged with managing property or funds for someone else. One of the main qualities required of a steward is faithfulness. The owner must know he can trust his steward to protect his investments and make sure they are profitable.

As Christians, we are stewards. God has charged us with managing many things, such as our time, our talents and our finances. And He expects us to be faithful; to protect these things but also to use them profitably and efficiently.

One day we will be required to give an account to God of how we managed the resources He trusted us with. Let’s do our very best so that we can hear him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for trusting me to be one of your stewards. Give me wisdom in how to manage the resources You have placed in my care.
