“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:” John 15:26

This week we have been considering the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. I trust that it has been a blessing to each of you and that it has given you a greater desire to draw closer to the Lord.

I was just talking to a friend who lives alone like I do. We were discussing how wonderful it is to be able to talk to the Lord when we are facing situations in our lives that we don’t know just what to do. When we do not have anyone else to talk to, we can call on the Name of Jesus, knowing that He hears and understands. His Holy Spirit whispers peace to our hearts. I cannot imagine how people who do not know the Lord cope with life’s problems.

I am so glad for the promise that Jesus gave His disciples, that He would not leave them alone, but would send them a Comforter, and that the promise was not just to them but to all who would believe their words.  You and I were included in that promise, it is just up to each one of us to accept it.

Romans 8:1-5 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”

Prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your Spirit that lives and abides in our hearts, leading us and guiding us each step of the way.
