Faithfulness means loyal, steadfast, unwavering, unshakeable, firm, and dependable.
God’s Word declares:
- “Great is his faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:23).
- “Declare his lovingkindness in the morning and His faithfulness every night.” (Psalm 92:1-2)
- “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever. I will make known Your faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 89:1)
- “Trust in the Lord and do good. Feed on His faithfulness.” (Psalm 37:3)
- “His faithfulness endures to all generations.” (Psalm 119:90)
- “What if some do not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?” (Romans 3:3)
God is faithful to His people. We can trust Him and stand upon the rock of our salvation. We are never left alone. I have proven Him over and over throughout my life.
As a child, I witnessed the faithfulness of God in my parents’ lives, not only in their ministry and personal lives but in times of need. God provided employment for Dad. He was blessed with promotions and better jobs each time they needed more financially.
Even though he was diagnosed with diabetes as a young man, he was directed to a doctor who was trained and did research in that medical area. God faithfully helped him with his health. Some years later, he lost his eyesight as a result of having diabetes for many years. Life seemed to shatter. Without sight, he had to resign the electrical foreman position with a large electrical company. But God provided a ministry for him to do and a place for them financially and spiritually. Even after Dad’s death, God always provided Mother with a comfortable home and life for thirty-four more years. Her faith was strong as she encouraged and helped others.
I watched and learned that God is faithful as I saw Him do these things in my parents’ lives. I heard the testimonies from the older people in my church. Over and over, I saw and heard of the faithfulness of God in their times of need. When I faced similar circumstances or had needs, I reminded God of what He had done for others that I had witnessed with my own eyes. I found He was faithful to me as my personal Savior and friend. I learned to trust in my God. “From generation to generation,” He is faithful.
Try Him for yourself! His faithfulness never ends. It is new every day. He is dependable. He is loyal. His love reaches where you are and to your needs. Life doesn’t always follow our chosen path, but we must remember that He is our Father and loves us. Psalm 37:3 instructs us, “Trust in the Lord.” Feed on His faithfulness.”
We fail. We forget. We falter. But God is forever faithful. Psalm 89:33 states that He will not take his lovingkindness from us, and His faithfulness will not fail. Great is His faithfulness!
