“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Can you imagine how it must have been for Mary and Joseph as they searched the town of Bethlehem for a place to stay. Mary, no doubt, knew that there was no time to waste, this child that God had promised her was just about to be delivered. How thankful she must have been to be shown to the humble stable, and know that they had a shelter.
As we celebrate this season in our nice homes, surrounded by family and friends, showered with blessings from above, may we never forget the blessed gift that the Lord provided for us on that Christmas long ago. He left the splendour of Heaven, was born in a lowly manger, and gave His life willingly so that we might have salvation. No greater gift has ever been given.
Prayer: Jesus, you are the ultimate gift to mankind. Help us to give ourselves completely to you this Christmas season and all year long.
