A devout life does bring wealth, but it’s the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that’s enough. (1 Timothy 6:6-7, The Message)

Money can very easily become a “god” in our lives. Some people have a love for money and allow it to control everything that they do. Whether it be a lack of money or an overwhelming amount of money – wouldn’t that be nice – we have all allowed money to rule our lives at one point or another.

Remembering that we will leave this world penniless is a reminder that we cannot let temporal things such as money have power over everything we do. It’s not about how much or little you have, rather, it’s what you do with what it is that you have.

Prayer: I pray for contentment today, Lord. I pray against financial stress and that you help us to be wise in the decisions that we make. I thank you for the many blessings you have given to us. In Jesus name, amen.
