“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” Romans 12:3-5

Have you ever stopped to consider the intricacies of our natural bodies? Every organ, every cell, and every muscle work perfectly together. We think about doing something, and messages travel from our brain to the area of our body that needs to be involved. What a wonderful Creator who formed man from the dust of the earth, breathed into him the breath of life, and made him a living soul.

Many times, in Paul’s writings, he compared the body of Christ to our natural bodies:

I Corinthians 12:12 “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

Ephesians 4:16 “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”

We all have different talents and abilities, and we all have a part to play in the Body of Christ. As we leave this year behind and begin a new one, may we let the Holy Spirit reveal what part He wants us to fulfill. Let us each learn what we can do best, and then devote our best to it. He knows our strengths and our weaknesses and will. Working together we can accomplish wonderful things for the Kingdom.

You may feel your part is small, but little is much when God is in it. All the Lord requires is that we be faithful in whatever He asks us to do.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, how fearfully and wonderfully you have made our mortal bodies. Help us to be faithful in fulfilling our purpose in your kingdom.
