“And it shall come to pass, that everything that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and everything shall live whither the river cometh.” Ezekiel 47:9

I just finished reading the Book of Ezekiel in my daily devotions, and once again this Scripture stood out to me. Ezekiel is writing about his vision of the river which originated under the temple and flowed out blessing all the land. The river was filled with all kinds of fish and many trees flourished on its banks. It started out small, but gradually spread out until it was a great river, bringing life to everything it touched.

It is a picture of the Gospel message, and of how it had a small beginning with the twelve disciples of Jesus preaching of His death and resurrection, but gradually spreading throughout the known world at that time. Today it has spread all over the world, and as people hear and believe they receive life. Wherever this message is preached, lives are being changed and people are healed spiritually and physically.

Perhaps when Jesus told His disciples to cast out their nets, even though they had fished all night and caught nothing, He was showing them a similar picture. They caught so many fish that their boats could not contain them. This is happening in our world today, as the Gospel is preached and men and women from every nation are finding salvation.

Truly we serve a Wonderful Lord, and it is a privilege to have the Holy Spirit flowing through our lives, blessing us with salvation and healing.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your Holy Spirit that lives in us, help us to let your Spirit flow out from us to bless others.
