“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5
As we continue to look at our greatest needs, I am sure that we all agree that wisdom is on everyone’s list. This scripture in James tells us that if we just ask the Lord, He will give us the wisdom we need for every situation. He won’t scold us for not knowing what to do but will be patient with us as He leads us to Scriptures that contain the answers we need.
You may be a mother of young children and some days you are not sure just how to handle the things that come up every day. There are a lot of books and advice out there, but our best source will always be the Bible. It takes a lot of wisdom to know what behaviours and attitudes to punish and what ones to just overlook. I know that with young children in the house it may be difficult to find time to spend on your knees or sitting quietly and reading the Word of God. But thankfully God hears our heart’s cry and even during a busy day, we can whisper a prayer to Him, as we go about our daily duties.
Or perhaps you have teenagers in your home. It must be difficult during this time of self distancing. If they are doing their schoolwork online, they are experiencing stress and frustration which is so different from what they were used to. Your patience and understanding are essential and some days you may feel like you cannot cope with their mood swings any longer. But just a quick cry out to the Lord asking Him for wisdom and guidance, will give you the strength to make it through the day.
I live alone, but I find myself starting each day, asking the Lord for wisdom and guidance. I want to use my time in a way that will be honouring Him. I am thankful for the volunteer work that I do on my computer to give me some structure to the day. Also, I am thankful for the wisdom and direction He gives in my writing, which I hope is a blessing to those that read it.
Whatever situation you find yourself in today, God is just waiting for you to call out to Him for the wisdom that you need. Remember the Scripture we started with on Monday:
Philippians 4:19: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Prayer: Jesus, we need your wisdom every day and we are thankful that all we must do is ask and you will provide it. Thank you for hearing our cry today.
