Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. (Matthew 12:13, Holy Bible, King James Version)
Jesus saw a man who needed healing. He spoke to the man, told him what to do, and the man did it. That action resulted in a healing, a complete restoration. This sounds so simple, but let’s look at a previous verse to get the full picture.
Verse 10 says “And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered.” Verses 11 and 12 are accusations from the Jewish onlookers who were aware that no work was to be performed on the Sabbath and Jesus’ rebuttal. Jesus defied the religious so He could proceed with the miracle.
Even then, there was one more obstacle. Jesus addressed the man with the withered hand who perhaps kept it hidden to avoid comments. Jesus said “Stretch forth thine hand (v. 13). The man could have refused. Instead he stretched out his shriveled hand and received a miracle.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be obedient to receive my miracle. Amen.
