“Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report:  if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”  (Philippians 4:9 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

Did you know that our minds produce as many as 50,000 thoughts every day?  I just read the statistics and found that approximately 80 percent of those thoughts are negative!  Which means that we are bombarded with 40,000 negative thoughts a day.  No wonder depression plagues our communities!

You can’t keep the negative thoughts from coming, but you can control what you do with them.  I plan on trashing them!  Don’t let negative thinking overload your thought process.  Use Philippians 4:9 to decide what thoughts should be kept.

When I was in school, I learned that a positive will cancel a negative.  I’m not a math guru, but, when I read this, I determined to fight all the negative information that bombards my mind with positive thoughts.   I’m determined to rid my mind of negative thoughts by replacing them with positive ones.

There is a sure way to stay positive in a negative world.  Absorb the Word of God.  This year I plan to devour His Word and meditate on it day and night.  My plan of action includes surrounding myself with people who are positive and keep my mind focused on Jesus!

Prayer:  Thank You, Lord, for Your Word!  It’s the best tool for staying positive in 2017.   Consuming the Bread of Life on a daily basis will help me be a better thinker.  Amen.
