“Be still, and know that I am God!

I will be honored by every nation.

I will be honored throughout the world”

Psalms 46:10

I’m a control freak. I know where everything goes, where everything is (for the most part), who eats what and when, what shoes my oldest likes to wear and what ones hurt her toes.. the list goes on.

It sounds like a good thing, and like my home is managed well but it’s actually a struggle for me because I get so caught up in what needs to be done and what’s next on the list.

Always on the go, never taking a moment to catch my breath. I feel like my mind is going a hundred miles an hour, constantly. But when I read this verse it causes me to pause… and breathe.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Be still.

Yes, there are things to be done but sometimes we just need to take a minute and have a moment with God. Stop.. catch your breath.. and recognize the fact that He is still God.

In the chaos, He is God and in the mundane routine of everyday life, He is still God. It’s time we start to recognize when we just need a moment, and allow ourselves that. Maybe God is quietly calling to you, and just wants to spend a few precious seconds with only you.. his child and creation.

God, help me to hear Your voice more clearly. Help me to recognize when you are softly calling to me. Draw me nearer today, and hold me close.
