Psalms 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world”

I’m a control freak. I know where everything goes, where everything is (for the most part), who eats what and when, what shoes my oldest likes to wear and what ones hurt her toes.. the list goes on.

It sounds like a good thing, and like my home is managed well but it’s actually a struggle for me because I get so caught up in what needs to be done and what’s next on the list. Always on the go, never taking a moment to catch my breath. I feel like my mind is going a hundred miles an hour, constantly. But when I read this verse it causes me to pause… and breathe.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Be still.

Yes, there are things to be done but sometimes we need to recognize when we need to push pause, and have a moment with God. Stop.. catch your breath.. and spend a few minutes resting in His presence and promises.

In the chaos, He is God and in the mundane routine of everyday life, He is still God. Maybe God is quietly calling to you, and just wants to spend a few precious seconds with only you.. His child and creation.

Prayer: God, help me to hear Your voice more clearly. Help me to recognize when you are softly calling to me. Draw me nearer today, and hold me close.
