Proverbs 8:29

“I was there when he set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries. And when he marked off the earth’s foundations,”

Humans struggle with being told what to do. Everyone wants to be the Captain, to be in charge, to take orders from no one.  We don’t like having boundaries, and we love to exercise our “right” to our own free will. God has placed boundaries for a reason though, a very important, life saving reason.

Have you ever driven through a highway, that was over-looking the ocean? You can smell the salty air as you hang your hand out the window, letting the breeze flow through your fingers. This is a pretty incredible scene, except for the fact that you are literally driving deathly close to a steep cliff, and the only thing separating you from that cliff is a guard rail.

Boundaries. That rail is there for your protection. That is what is keeping you from terrible tragedy; conscious driving and a guard rail. If God gave even the oceans boundaries, how much more do we need them? The word of God is the guard rail of our lives. It gives wisdom, and direction to our lives.

It is important for us to stay within the safety of His word. Stay within your personal convictions, morals and standards. His word will never lead you astray, only closer to Him.

Prayer: God, I am thankful today for Your inspired word God, that directs my steps and gives me wisdom. Help me to know my boundaries today, as the lines are often blurred in the world we live in. Help me to hold fast to my convictions and commands given to me in your word.
