“I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.” Psalm 55:8

It is cold outside. Snow is falling and the wind is blowing. But here in my apartment there is peace because the presence of the Lord is here. There is food in my cupboard, I have warm clothes to wear, and there is no need to go out in the storm.

Our world is in turmoil. There are many things that could bring us fear. There are stories of mass shootings, viruses that are causing sickness and death, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and large forest fires. In some parts of the world, Christians are being persecuted and Christian values that have been the foundation of our country are being questioned and destroyed.

But in our hearts, we can have peace knowing that our God is in control. He holds the future in His hands and in His good time, He will bring everything to pass that He has promised. The storms may rage, but we have trust and confidence in God’s Word. He has promised to always be there for us and to work all things for our good.

He spoke to the winds and the waves on the Sea of Galilee, “Peace, be still.” Today amid all that is going on in our world, we can still hear His voice as He whispers peace to our hearts. Whatever you are facing today, remember that Jesus is Lord and has everything in His control. He will guide you through the storm and give you peace.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Prayer: Jesus you are our shelter, the Master of the wind and the storms. You hold us in your hand, and we will trust you to keep our hearts in perfect peace, no matter what our circumstances.
