“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8

My mother was telling me a story this evening about a conversation she had with my six year old daughter. They were discussing a bible story and my daughter was adamant that I told her that Adam and Eve were on the earth before God.

She’s a smart girl, but she must have misunderstood how I explained it to her. She very firmly told my mother that she was wrong (in telling her that God existed before Adam and Eve) and that she trusted her mother and what she says.

I laughed at the time, but then I got thinking, my daughter trusts me. She very plainly verbalized that she did, and was not backing down in her belief.

Do we trust our Heavenly Father as firmly as my daughter trusts me and what I say? Do we recognize His voice, and follow the path He has laid out for us?

Sometimes our lives will be flipped upside down and we will have no other choice but to trust Him. There will be circumstances where we can’t humanly do anything to help the situation, are we prepared for those moments?

Are we grounded as deep as tree along a riverbank, with roots that go beyond the surface? Such trees are not bothered by changing seasons, unpredictable weather or drought.

Place your absolute trust in Him. He has never failed and never will. You can rest today knowing that He has everything in control, and is always working.

He is a God who is excellent at turning things around. Trust Him today.

God, I pray that you would help me to trust You more. Help me to recognize Your voice and the path You have laid out for me. Let me not become discouraged or distracted by changing seasons, but let me rather always hold onto Your hand and trust You.
