“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him…”

Psalms 37:7 ESV

I have a really hard time sitting still. I feel like I always have to be doing something, whether it’s cleaning or working on a project, I need to feel like I’m being productive. So when I go through a season of waiting, I struggle. I want to be doing something that can change my situation, move it forward and get out of this wilderness as quickly as I can!

Being still is not something that comes easily to most people. We like to have control, to at least have a little bit of say in the situation. Unfortunately, that isn’t how it works with God. He requires crazy faith and our absolute trust.  In the midst of devastation when our future seems bleak, He wants us to relinquish control, step back and let Him do what He does best.

He will always work it out for us, He has never failed. He is the author of our stories; he knows exactly what tomorrow holds! Who better to surrender to, and to trust with our future?

Now, being still doesn’t necessarily mean to sit back and do absolutely nothing. It means to turn the problem over to a very capable God, trust that He knows best and to carry on. Keep waking up early to spend time in prayer, keep reading and studying His precious word, and keep being involved in your local church. Remain faithful to God, and you will look back and be astounded at how He worked it all out!

Prayer

God, help me to know when to be still and wait on you and your perfect timing for my life. I trust that you know best, and this is just a season. I believe you are going to bring me through to the other side and I thank you for that today.
