“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:3, KJV)

I was recently speaking with someone who had made some pretty big mistakes in their life. These mistakes had huge consequences which included a considerable amount of prison time. During this time, they developed a deep relationship with Jesus and led many people to the Lord. The time has been served and they are now on the other side of a long journey. It was so interesting to hear them speak of their experience. Although they would never had chosen to go through such an experience, it is so amazing how you can clearly see God’s hand in their life. God was truly able to make beauty from ashes.

It is so natural for us to make plans. It is so also so natural for us to make mistakes. We have hopes and dreams, but what happens when something doesn’t go as planned? Whether it is a mistake on our part or just life, there are so many things that can change our plans.

The amazing thing about our faithful and merciful God is that no matter what we do to mess up our plans He can still use us for good. He can use our biggest mistake to be the biggest blessing to His kingdom.

Prayer:  God, no matter where I am on this journey with You teach me to trust. Teach me to trust Your plan and Your process. Let me always turn back to You no matter what mistakes I have made and desire Your perfect will in my life.
