“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” II Corinthians 5:17 During the last few weeks there has been a lot in the news about the young lady who recently became a member of the…

“And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces” (Genesis 37:33 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).

We’ve all been there. When we contemplate the worst case scenario and a feeling of dread overwhelms us. At least once a month I get caught in a serious case of worrying because my husband is not home as promptly as I think he should be. I can’t reach him on his cell phone and I start jumping to conclusions of what might have happened. Reading our devotional verse made me downright angry with Joseph’s brothers because of the grief they caused their father. Jacob surmised what could have happened to Joseph when he saw the bloody coat. Don’t jump to conclusions when it comes to your children. Reading the story of Joseph’s life, we understand how God protected and promoted him despite all odds. This gives me hope that God has everything in His control!

Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray for all the parents who are genuinely concerned about their children. May this story serve as a reminder not to give up even though the situation looks hopeless. Only God knows how many more chapters are ahead.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:” (1 John 5:14 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).

The word confidence is used 38 times throughout the Bible and usually refers to our confidence in God. Confidence is built on what He has done for us in the past. Trust is based upon the relationship we have with God.

We’re all undeserving yet He loves us. We’re His children and He wants the best for us. Go ahead and ask Him anything! He will listen to your requests.

Prayer: Lord, I thank You for Your faithfulness! I am confident that You hear me when I come with my requests. Today I’m struggling with a situation I can’t handle, but I bring my petition to You knowing You will see me through! Amen.

“Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?” (Romans 9:21, in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

This morning this scripture put me in my place when I read it and realized that He’s the potter and I’m just clay.

A potter’s occupation is to make earthen vessels. Clay has no real value until it’s placed into the potter hands. With his hands, he begins to form it into something of his choosing.

He can do whatever He desires with me because He’s in charge. I can’t possibly pull myself up by the proverbial “boot straps.” I want to stay in the Master Potter’s hands and let Him mold me according to His plan. I’m in good hands when I’m in His hands.

Prayer: Lord, mold me and make me after Your will. Help me to be pliable and flexible to what You have in mind for me. I desire to be a vessel of honor. In Jesus Name, amen!

Humans are satisfied with whatever looks good; God probes for what is good. (Proverbs 16:2, The Message) Our society has become totally obsessed with how they appear. The world of Instagram and Facebook often portray people with perfect lives when in reality, no life is perfect. Unfortunately, we can be tricked into believing that everyone…

The Lord works out everything to its proper end—even the wicked for a day of disaster. (Proverbs 16:3, NIV) A few nights ago, someone broke into my car. Thankfully, although it was all rummaged through and torn apart, nothing was taken. When I came out in the morning and realized…
