“According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.”

1 Corinthians 3:10 ESV

Have you ever felt incapable or underqualified to do what God has called you to do? I’m sure in moments of doubt and weakness, even Paul experienced this. Those moments when fear comes creeping into the back of your mind, and threatens to destroy everything that has been built in your life.

The scripture above lets us know that it’s because of God’s grace that we can accomplish what He has called us to do. He sees that we are flawed and imperfect, and yet He still chooses us to move His kingdom forward.

Paul doesn’t say “Because I am a skilled master builder I laid a foundation” but rather he does say ” LIKE a skilled master builder I laid a foundation” Paul recognized that he was still human, and that kept him humble. He was able to stand before crowds of people and proclaim that Jesus was the Messiah because he accepted grace daily and realized he could only do so much on his own.

Through Christ, We can do things that are beyond our natural human abilities. Maybe God has called you to minister, but fear is holding you captive – through grace, and God’s strength, you can walk the path set before you. Perhaps memories from your past haunt you and keep you from meeting your potential, but I encourage you to shake off those heavy chains and accept who you are in Christ.

You are a blood-bought, child of the King. You have been fashioned with intention and purpose.
