“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16

The NIV reads: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

The Scripture also says that there is none righteous, no not one. How then can we be effective in prayer? Even though we are not righteous through any good in ourselves, we are made righteous because we have the Lord Jesus dwelling in our hearts. None of us are perfect, but when the Lord looks at us, He sees us through His blood. He paid the price for our sins and we are made righteous in Him.

Sometimes we may feel that our prayers do not amount to anything, but as we lift the needs of our family, our friends, and others to the Lord in prayer, He hears our cry. We may not see the answers immediately, but in God’s own timing, results will be made manifest. He hears the sincere cry from our hearts and He will answer in due time.

Prayer: Lord, hear the cry from our hearts today for those in need and let your perfect will be done.
