“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” I Thessalonians 4:16-17

I stand in my doorway gazing toward the eastern sky,

The sun is shining brightly and a few clouds drift slowly by.

The birds are singing sweetly as they greet the day with cheer.

But I am listening for another sound, one my heart longs to hear.

Just to hear that final trumpet ringing out so loud and clear.

And the voice of the archangel would be music to my ear.

What we all have waited for, through times that oft were tough

When Jesus steps out on the clouds, and shouts one word, “Enough.”

This world is filled with wickedness, there’s strife on every hand

But when Jesus shall appear, He will bring judgment to the land.

With hearts prepared and ready, in the twinkling of an eye

The church will rise in splendour to join Him in the sky.

Will you be among that number that will hear the trumpet sound?

When Jesus shouts, “Enough” will your feet leave the ground?

The end of this world is coming, there is still time to prepare

Make your reservation and be ready to meet Jesus in the air.

This poem was inspired after listening to some messages online regarding the coming of the Lord and thinking about all the signs that are being fulfilled.  It is so important that we be ready for we know not the day nor the hour.  We only know it is going to be soon.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the promise in your Word that you are going to return for your people.  Thank you that you have given us instructions so that we know what we must do to be ready.  Help us to be obedient to your Word, so that we do not miss the trumpet call.
