“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him”(Matthew 4:19-20).

This has always been a fascinating portion of scripture to me. I am often drawn back to it, and my imagination runs wild with possibilities. We live in 2017, and the world can be a scary place. So, if someone approached you and said, “Leave everything you know behind and follow me,” you probably would say, “No”, and maybe even call the police. But that’s exactly what happened to Peter and Andrew.

They didn’t know Jesus, and yet when He approached them and said, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men,” they laid down what they were doing and followed Him. I wonder what they felt in that moment. Was it God’s presence? Did they just know, “Yes, let’s do this”? I’ve had powerful encounters with Jesus, and I can guarantee you, if they felt what I have felt time and time again, I would have dropped everything too!

It only takes one moment in the presence of God for your life to be dramatically changed. Like Peter and Andrew, I too am a living testimony of the change Jesus makes in life. He stepped into my life and turned my world right side up! He showered me with grace and extended mercy to me and I will never be the same – and you can experience a life-changing moment in God’s presence too!

Prayer: Lord, help me to never be afraid to approach You and boldly step into Your presence. I ask that You would let Your Spirit flow through my life today, and do a work in me that only You can do. Help me to always be aware of Your presence and to never take it for granted.
