“….for the LORD delighteth in thee…” Isaiah 62:4

As a mother we delight in our children, we see them as being special.  We know they are not perfect, we can see all the flaws they have, but we also know their strengths and abilities.  We see the potential for great things for them.

And so, daily we seek to guide their steps, to form their lives, to show them how to overcome the things that cause them to fail.  We encourage them to develop their talents and abilities and challenge them to put everything they can into those areas and do their very best at whatever they do.  We rejoice in their victories and encourage them when they fail.  We do not compare them to others and try to mold them into something they are not gifted for.

I expect the Lord looks on us in the same way. He knows us better than we know ourselves.  He sees our heart and knows every fault and failure.  But He also sees the desire of our heart and knows the potential we have.  Thus, He gently and patiently guides us each day, speaking to us from His word, directing our steps to a closer walk with Him.  He does not criticize or compare us to others, but convicts us when we do wrong and leads us to place of repentance and forgiveness.  We can safely trust our lives to Him because He loves us and “delights in us.”  He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your loving care for us.  Help us to walk worthy of you today.
