I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”  Genesis 9:13

As we begin reading the Bible through for another year, it seems no matter how often we have read these familiar stories, something new always seems to stand out to us.  As I read the story of Noah, and how God gave him the promise of the rainbow in the sky as His token that he would never again destroy the earth by a flood, I wondered how Noah reacted to this beautiful sight.

Do you suppose that every time it rained after this that Noah watched carefully for that rainbow to appear?  Did He ever have a bit of concern that the rain might continue as it had before, or if God really meant what He had said?  Or did he just live without any doubt, just trusting God, knowing that when the rain was over, the rainbow would again appear.

We have so many precious promises from the Lord, that He will never leave us or forsake us, that He is continually watching over us, working all things together for our good.  So, when times of discouragement, testing, and trials come, we can lift our eyes toward heaven, knowing that He will not fail.  We know that these things shall pass, and that He is in complete control.

Prayer:  As Noah had the promise of the rainbow, we have the promise of your Word that you are working all things for our good.  Help us to trust you in every circumstance.
