“And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master’s brethren.” Genesis 24:27

Abraham had given his servant a task to fulfill, to go back to where he had come from and find a bride for his son, Isaac.  We don’t know how long this servant had been with Isaac, or if he had come with him on the original journey.  He had no map to follow, but he set out on his journey, trusting in the Lord to guide him.

The Lord led him not only to the place he needed to go, but also his first encounter was with the girl that the Lord had chosen for Isaac’s bride.  This was no coincidence.  And she was willing to draw water for him and his camels, fulfilling the test that the servant had asked of the Lord.  The first thing he did was bow down and worship the Lord and thank Him for leading him.

As we read this account, it increases our faith that the Lord can lead us and guide us every day in the path that He desires us to go.  Like Abraham’s servant, all we must do is trust His guidance and walk every day in the way He shows us.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, this is the day that you have given us, guide our footsteps in the way You would have us go and bring us to the desired end.
