“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.” Psalm 139:1-4
How comforting to realize that the Lord knows our every thought before we even think it, that he knows every word before we speak. We cannot hide anything from Him. This may be scary to a person who does not know God, but we have no fear because He has cleansed us with His blood and clothed us with the robe of righteousness. When our thoughts stray away from Him, He has a way of steering us back on course.
His Spirit within us is our source of comfort and peace. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He hears the cry from our heart even before we bring it to Him in prayer. He is a constant companion, one on whom we can fully rely. For those of us who live alone, He is always there with us and there are no lonely moments. When we whisper His Name, He is there immediately, a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
Each morning as we commit our day to Him, we can be confident that nothing can come against us that is not His will, and that He will give us strength and direction.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for your promise that you are always with us, that you know our every thought and that you are directing our path..
