“You’ve seen a lot, but looked at nothing. You’ve heard everything, but listened to nothing.”

Isaiah 42:20 MSG

My oldest daughter is at that age where she talks a lot, and I mean a lot. She has slowly morphed from a shy, timid little girl into a social, chatty butterfly. Don’t get me wrong, I love having lengthy discussions about everything possible with her, but I do catch my thoughts drifting off sometimes mid-conversation.

We as humans have become quite adept at hearing but not listening, and seeing but not genuinely soaking in what we are witnessing. I believe the same applies spiritually. We attend service after service, hearing the word preached and seeing God move, but a lot of the time we leave the same way we entered – stirred, but unchanged.

I love to worship and rejoice as I feel God’s presence, but I believe God is calling us, especially now, to go deeper. Do you feel the call to take a few daunting steps into the Supernatural? We live in odd, uncertain times, so now more than ever being stirred is not enough. There are people in our communities who are searching for something real and life-changing, and I know this because 15 years ago I was one of those people.

When we come into God’s presence, we need to have our minds made up that we are going to pursue everything God has for us, and what He has for others in the service. Your faith, persistence, and fervor can change the atmosphere around you, and in turn, can notably impact the lives of those surrounding you.

Let’s take a few moments today to do some maintenance on our hearts, spiritual eyes, and ears. Let’s slow down and ask ourselves “Am I truthfully seeing what I am supposed to see and am I listening for God’s voice?”
