“Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God is with you every step you take.” (Joshua 1:9 in The Message Bible)
Reading this verse reminded me of a phrase I used over and over again with my children, “How many times do I have to tell you?” In this chapter, God told Joshua four times to be strong and courageous. It’s an order from God.
Joshua watched and followed Moses. He saw how God performed miraculous things for him. He was an eye-witness to so much. Now Moses was gone and Joshua was in charge.
God wanted Joshua to know that He was with him too. We are never flying solo. God is with us. He is our pilot and navigator wherever we go. So be strong and of good courage. No need to worry. God is with us! How many times does He have to tell us?
Prayer: What a comfort to know that You are with us, Lord! You will never leave or forsake us. You will go with us all the way!
