“I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old” (Psalm 77:11).
I have a terrible memory, “Mommy brain” is what it’s called now that I have a rambunctious three-year-old who doesn’t believe sleep is a necessity. I have to make a note of everything or else nothing would be accomplished! It is so easy to get caught up in the chaos that is everyday life, to never make a note to spend some time shut-in with God.
How often we forget all the wonders He has done; the miracles He has performed, and the countless times He has extended mercy and grace to us. Life has a way of knocking us off our feet from time to time and we can lose focus. It has to be a daily choice to see God’s hand at work in every aspect of our lives.
The disciples quickly forgot the feeding of the five thousand when the storm was approaching their boat, but God knew exactly what was happening. Jesus commanded them to go the other side knowing full well what was coming their way. His ways are higher, and His glory was shown in a scary situation!
Take time today to reflect and remember all that God has done in your life today. He is an incredible God, and if He did it before, He can most certainly do it again!
Prayer: Lord, help me remember all the works and wonders you have performed in my life – the countless acts of grace, forgiveness of my sins and those quiet moments when you spoke into my life. Thank you for always knowing what is best for my life even when I don’t always understand.
