“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.” (1 Samuel 17:45)

David was the youngest of Jesse’s boys. He was a shepherd, possibly in his teens. He was not able to join the Israelite army because he was too young, but his brothers were old enough to enlist.

One day, Jesse asked David to take some food to his brothers. When David arrived at the camp, he heard Goliath calling for someone to fight him. Everyone else feared Goliath, but David knew he could defeat him.

King Saul tried to provide David with armor, but it was too big for him. David went to the brook and collected five stones and went out to fight Goliath. All he had was 5 stones and a slingshot. In the end, all David needed was one stone in his slingshot to take down Goliath that day.  David was small in stature but, when he went out to fight Goliath, he went in the name of the Lord.

No matter the size of your problem, as long as you challenge that problem in the name of the Lord, you will be victorious!

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask that You go with me every day. When the enemy comes against me, I will declare Your Great Name!  I will not fear.  You will always fight for me. Amen!
