“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” John 10:9

When our children are small, we often place gates at the bottom of the stairs or in the entrances to some rooms. These are not meant to limit our children, but to protect them from unsafe places. We love them. They are too young to understand the dangers, so we establish some boundaries to keep them safe.

Jesus said that He was the door or the gate to salvation, which is open to all. That gate allows us to enjoy all the benefits He has provided. We have access to all the riches that He has promised in His Word. If we stay faithful to Him, we can be assured of one day entering the Gate of Heaven.

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

When we repent of our sins and seek the Lord’s forgiveness, we are granted access to the gate of salvation. Once inside that shelter, we have the protection of the Lord. He sets some fences or boundaries that will protect us from danger and harm. These are not to limit our movements, but because He loves us and wants us to reach our full potential in Him. Consider the following scriptures:e

Psalm 141:3 “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”

Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”

II Corinthians 6:17 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”

I John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Thought For Today: Within the narrow gate, we are safe and secure.
