“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37

A few weeks ago, I was listening to a message by Dr. David Jeremiah and he made this statement: “It is impossible to love God with all your mind, if you don’t read and study God’s Word and have it in your mind.”

When Jesus said we must love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind, He meant that God must have first place in every aspect of our lives. How important it is for us to read and study the Word of God, and meditate upon it, so that it becomes part of us. When we are faced with a trial or a decision to make, we don’t always have a Bible in front of us to search through to find an answer, but because we already have it hidden in our heart, the Holy Spirit will bring to our remembrance the things we have read and show us the answer we need at the time.

No matter how many times we read the Bible through, each time we read it we find new things that we had not noticed before, and new verses to meditate upon. I have found that often God gives us some thoughts about a Scripture and at the time we do not understand why. Later, things happen in our lives and that Scripture will come to our mind and we realize that God had given it to us, knowing what we would be facing.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus, for your Word. Help us to read and study it faithfully, so that we will live as you want us to live.
