“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the father, but by me.”  (John 14:7 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

Myths are stories handed down through the years that may or may not be true.  There are several myths surrounding the story of the wise men that are not true.

We sing, “We three kings” and yet the Bible states they were wise men, not kings.  Perhaps the lavish gifts led someone to believe that they were kings.  Read Matthews account of Jesus’ birth in Chapter 2.

Again, scripture does not tell us that there were three wise men traveling to where Jesus was.  Probably there was a caravan as traveling in a small group would leave them vulnerable to robbers.

Pictures show them going to the stable and yet the Bible does not say they were at His birth site.  Jesus was a young child according to the scripture; He was no longer in the manger but a toddler by the time the wise men reached Him.

All year long we must study the Word of God and make sure that we are hearing the truth and not myths.

Prayer:  I’m so glad I know that You are the way, the truth, and the life!  Amen!
