“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”  (Genesis 8:22  KJV) This is as it SHOULD be. It was God who, on the 4th Creative Day, made Days, and Seasons, and Years.  God created this sequence, and no man can alter or stop it. While they were traveling, he entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what he said. (Luke 10:38-39, CSV) Have you ever wished you had lived in Bible times—walking the roads Jesus walked, hearing Him teach, seeing His miracles? But in thinking about it, I decided I’d rather enjoy time with Him in a closer setting, such as the…

I recently finished reading a book that claims it has “practical wisdom for women who want to speak up, create and lead.” It suggests that some women were raised to “play small” and not rock the boat or challenge the status quo. “The LORD your God will soon bring you into the land he swore to give you when he made a vow to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is a land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build, houses filled with choice things you did not accumulate, hewn out cisterns you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant – and you eat your fill, be careful not to forget the LORD, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.” (Deuteronomy 6:10-12, New English Translation) The slavery of Egypt now lay behind…

“En-” means to put in or into; “courage” means to be confident and strong, therefore, encourage means to put courage and strength into someone. “Dis-” reverses the word it’s attached to. “Discourage” means to take courage away. An encouraging person is pleasant to be around because he builds you up and strengthens you by his words, actions, and attitudes. A discouraging person weakens, deprives of hope, and tears down rather than strengthening and building. Jennifer Rothschild says, “A good compliment gives us a happy buzz. It lifts us like sugar does….a quick buzz and then a let down that makes…
