Joshua 10:12, Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. Joshua was not satisfied with a partial victory — he wanted to see a complete victory, so he prayed an impossible prayer. Joshua 10:14, And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel. The sun stood still and the moon stopped for 24 hours.…
“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” (Galatians 4:4, NKJV) In just a few days, we will be celebrating Christmas. For some, it is only a secular holiday with an emphasis on decorations, gifts, family time,…
“Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD: It is not you who will build me a house to dwell in . . . When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and…

“And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.” Matthew 21:8-9 On September 8, the world received the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth of England. She had reigned for 70 years, respected, and honoured by the world. Over the past few days, we have seen pictures and read reports of…
“There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.” Acts 21:16 (King James Version of the Holy Bible).
I love the senior saints who still enjoy fellowship and excercise the gift of hospitality. According to Barnes’ Notes the rites of hospitality were shown in a distinguished manner by the early Christians. Adam Clarke’s Commentary states that his being an old disciple may either refer to his having been a very early convert, probably one of those on the Day of Pentecost, or to his being now an old man. Either way Mnason was a mature Christian and it is evident that what he received from God was still active in his life. The gift of hospitality is still important for Christians to share today.
Prayer: Lord, I pray that age will never squelch my love for fellowship with others of like precious faith. There is nothing like the family of God!

“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:4) Growing up, most of us read fairy tale stories. There are stories of princesses saved by their heroes, stories of mythical creatures and lands, etc. Some of us loved reading those type of stories and maybe even read them to our children. While reading these books, maybe you imagined yourself a part of the story. Maybe you imagined yourself doing things or going to far away places. You became a part of the story, the fable. The Bible, to some people, has…
“Every promise in the Book is mine. Every chapter, every verse, every line….” We are all familiar with that little chorus we sang years ago. We worshiped and felt so blessed about every promise being ours! But, frankly, I really don’t want some of the promises in the Bible. One of those promises says, “The soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20, KJV). That’s a promise, but I don’t want to claim that promise for myself. However, there are many promises in the Bible we can cling to. God gave a promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3: “And I…
