Psalms 56:8 “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” I remember when I was a young teen my grandparents brought me to church on a Sunday evening. I always weaseled my way out of evening services because I felt God and that frightened me, but this week was different. I remember sitting off to the side, by myself and crying. Crying for no specific reason, but the tears were flowing. A lady in our church came up to me and gently put her…
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” How many times have you cried out to God “I just don’t understand!” I’ve done it plenty…
Proverbs 16:4 “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps” I’m not the type of person that likes to have plans set in stone, nor am I completely a free spirit. I’m somewhere right in the middle of let me know where to be and when, and…

“So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith” (Galatians 6:10, New English Translation). November 13 of each year is celebrated as World Kindness Day. Although it has “world” in the title, only certain countries recognize it and there’s no particular way in which it is celebrated. Perhaps that’s because there are so many ways to show kindness. The holiday season, now approaching, seems to elicit feelings of kindness and generosity in many people, but I don’t believe it can be confined to just…
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8. We are all unique in God’s sight, He loved us before we were even born. He has designed a special path for each one of us to follow. He has given each one of us talents and abilities that are different from anyone else. He knows exactly what is best for us and how we can use those abilities for His honour and glory. He does…
“Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people.” (Colossians 3:22-23, Christian Standard Bible) Living for God involves more than an hour or two in church on Sunday morning. It’s a lifestyle, not something we put on or take off according to the day of the week. Wherever we go, whatever we do, our actions reveal how serious we are about our relationship with the Lord. Those actions are also…
I grew up in Missouri, USA, where our state motto is “Show Me.” Often when people tell us something, we Missourians will joke, “Show me!” In other words, we want proof that it’s true. I like proof; I like having an assurance that things are going to be fine. I’d love for God to give me clear evidence that things are going to be alright, wouldn’t you? It would be much more comfortable. He doesn’t often work that way, though. Even when Jesus lived and walked among us, He spoke to the multitudes in parables “so that ‘seeing they may…
