Proverbs 4:5-7 ESV “Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.” My Grandfather (who has now passed) was a man who was truly content with his lot in life. My Grandparents, by society’s standards did not have a lot, but to them they had everything they needed. A home, food on the table, a wood stove to keep them warm…
Proverbs 24:16 “The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked” My husband is incredibly accident prone. He has shot himself in the leg with an air-nailer, torn off toenails and has had countless other accidents in…
James 1:22 NLT “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” I have two young children, so speaking to them and not truly being heard is a frequent occurrence in my home. They are busy, active children who have…

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years,” (Genesis 1:14, English Standard Version of the Holy Bible).
Triple-digit summer temperatures peaked electrical performance. Warnings to keep babies and inactive elderly hydrated and away from the hot sun were given, but emergency rooms were overrun with those experiencing heat exposure and dehydration. Cool fall temperatures have replaced the scorching heat. Soon winter will bring heavy rains, snow, and ice. Then, spring will blossom again with gentle warmth and the beauty of fresh new foliage.
Only when we experience all the seasons do we realize God is in control. As He manages the seasons with symmetry, you can trust Him to be in control of your life.
Pray: Heavenly Father, You established times and seasons and days and nights in the beginning. As each arrives, you give me new seasons of purpose. Once I was young, like spring, now I am in the fall of my life. I trust that You will bring me through the winter to my eternal destiny. Amen.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV) Women tend to be emotional. This is how God designed us. He gave us His Word to help us deal with our emotions when they are running rampant. Emotions are real and are meant to be expressed without hurting us or others. Try expressing them to God first. When we don’t let Him know how we feel, our reactions can result in disaster. If someone is violating you, talk to the One who can help you with what…
“For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” (Romans 9:17, NKJV) Earlier this summer, I awoke with a feeling of intense gratitude and overwhelming sense of humility that God choses to use ordinary, flawed people like me in His kingdom. I began to pray, leading off with the lyrics to a song that I have lately come to hold close to my heart: “… lead my steps, change my ways, put Your purpose in this place… I need you I need you…
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 1:23 I was meditating on this verse a few days ago during my morning devotions and decided to break it down word for word. I came up with the following: The — definite article LORD — The supreme ruler of the universe, the Mighty God, creator of all things Is – not can be or could be; not has been or will be – but is now in this very moment My – personal; not just a universal presence, but mine alone Shepherd – my leader, my guide,…
