“For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.” Isaiah 30:15

A friend and I were discussing the other night, how sometimes people will come to us asking for advice about something that they are experiencing, and we do our best to offer them some scriptures and a word from the Lord to help them.  But often we realize they are not really seeking our wisdom or suggestions, but just want us to confirm that the way they are handling it and the decisions they are making are the right ones. Sometimes that is how we go to the Lord in prayer, seeking His affirmation rather than wanting to know His will.

Isaiah is writing to the people in Israel regarding what they are facing and advising them as to what they should be doing.  Instead they are saying that they will work it out in their own way regardless of what is God’s will for them.  He advises them that their only answer is returning to God and serving Him.  He tells them that their strength will only come if they do this.

When we need refreshment, guidance, or direction, we must remember that spending time talking to the Lord and listening to His voice is important.  By doing this we are showing our trust in Him. He desires that we lean upon Him, trust Him completely, and be confident in Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Prayer:  Lord there are many that are tired and weary today, needing some rest for their souls, Help them to realize that you are the answer, and if they will just call upon your Name, you will hear and strengthen them in every way.  Thank you that we can cast every care upon you.
