Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

I have a 10 month old daughter who is the perfect combination of sweet and sassy. She is unbelievably busy, and we love her beyond words. But.. she doesn’t sleep well at night, and when I say not well, I actually mean not at all (Pray for me sisters!)

She is up an insane amount of times in the night and it gets to be so exhausting! Anyone who has kids after 30 has major respect from me! It’s difficult to function properly when you’re running on fumes, and even simple tasks become impossible to finish.

I know you all have felt tired and weary at some point in your spiritual life, it happens to all of us. We get run down from the busyness of ministry, whatever that looks like for you.

But Jesus emphasized the importance of rest in His word. Yes, advancing the kingdom is incredibly important, but so is rest. The two should go hand in hand. Knowing when to give it all you have, and knowing when it’s time to take a breather and check out your priorities.

Take some time today to just be in His presence, to have a quiet moment of worship with your Heavenly Father.

God, help me to recognize when I need to rest. I want to be at my best so I can fulfil my purpose in this season I’m in.
