“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name,” (Psalm 103:1, Holy Bible, King James).
When I think of blessings, I anticipate good things heading my way. Happy moments. Pleasant telephone conversations. Time with friends. But that isn’t what the Psalmist had in mind when he etched these melodious words into history. Rather than receiving blessings, he instructs me to bless the Lord from the depth of my soul. This unselfish blessing provides an aura of contentment all its own.
Prayer: Lord, I will bless Your holy name today without expecting anything in return. Amen.
