When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 8:18-19, NIV)

Simon was a sorcerer and must have been able to put on a pretty entertaining performance.  People thought he was great and were amazed by his abilities. As cool as his acts were, they did not even compare to the message of Jesus Christ and his light was quickly dimmed as people began to get baptized and seek the Holy Ghost.  Even the great sorcerer himself saw that there was something special about John and Peter and offered to pay them money so that he could have the same gifts they did.

If people only knew the power that we have in Jesus Christ, they would be lined up around the block! I think we sometimes quiet down in a crowd when in reality we need to be sharing the amazing miracles that He is able to perform.  He has the most incredible free gifts for all of us and I am beyond thankful for that.

Prayer: Lord, let us not be hindered to share the good news in public.  It is not always comfortable to be confronted about our beliefs but I pray that You will give us the boldness we need! Thank you for Your spirit living inside of us, that gives us the power to do anything. In Jesus name, amen.
