“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

Continuing our look at the most important needs that we have and know that God will supply, I am sure that everyone will agree that Peace is important, especially at this time.

Our world has been shaken over the past few months.  Normal life as we view it has been disrupted and turned upside down.  The Bible speaks about men’s hearts failing them for fear and I am sure that is the experience of many today.  According to news reports, calls to help lines have increased dramatically in the last while.  Here in our province, the Government has hired hundreds of additional people to handle this influx. People in the business community are concerned, as new restrictions are applied. The future looks dark and insecure.

If only the world could realize that there is a source of peace that is available to everyone who is willing to ask for it.  Before Jesus left this earth, He promised His disciples that even though He was going away, He would not leave them without comfort and peace.  The Holy Spirit would come to them, filling their hearts, so there would be no need to be troubled or afraid.  Peace would be there for the asking. In James 4:2 we read: “Ye have not, because ye ask not.”

I am so glad that we can know peace in our hearts, no matter what is happening in this world.  We may be facing the same situation that everyone else in this world is facing, but when we have the Lord Jesus Christ abiding in our hearts, we do not fear as others do.  We know that when things seem to overwhelm us, we can just breathe a prayer, and God hears the cry from our heart.  He takes away the fear and His perfect peace fills our soul.

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19.

Prayer:  Thank you Lord, that no matter the tumult and confusion in this world, we can cry out to you, and you supply our need for peace.  Help us to manifest that peace to others that we encounter, that they, too, may desire to know You.
