“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:” (I John 2:1 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible).

Because of the charges laid against us, Jesus Christ was tried and convicted. He served our sentence. Now, He lives to plead our case. Take time right now to thank your heavenly advocate for nailing your guilty verdict to His cross and applying His righteousness to your sin-stained soul!

Prayer: Jesus, it is Your blood, Your DNA that covers my sin. There is no evidence against me. The charges are dropped and my sins are forgiven. Thank you for setting me free!

“But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children” (Galatians 4:4-5 in the New Living Translation of the Holy Bible).

Hundreds of years passed from the time when the birth of Jesus was foretold in Genesis 3:15 until the day that He was born in a manger at a Bethlehem stable. The people of God were reminded by prophets that the promised Messiah would come, but after so many long years of delay it is no wonder that many gave up hope. The Messiah did come. And when He came, He inaugurated a new era of freedom. We, who were hopelessly chained by sin, are now the adopted sons and daughters of God!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your plan to save mankind from the death sentence of sin was perfectly timed. Thank You for making it possible for me to have the same name, the same inheritance, and the same rights as a spiritually-born daughter of the King of Kings!

“But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said. “We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’?” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin,” (Holy Bible, John 8:33-34, New Living Translation). I was born in the United States of America, the land of freedom. When the red, white and blue flag unfurls, it’s my assurance that freedom belongs to me. Like these descendents of Abraham who questioned Jesus, I’ve never been a slave or endured servant, but tentacles of sin enslaved me until I claimed my inheritance through faith in Jesus Christ. He set me free.

prayer: Lord Jesus, I am no longer enslaved by sin because You set me free. Amen.
