“Because a loveless world,” said Jesus, “is a sightless world”

John 14:23 MSG

We are reminded time and time again throughout scripture how important it is to have vision. Proverbs 29:18 tells us where there is no vision, the people will perish, and that sounds pretty serious to me.

We must be able to see the world, and especially people, through the eyes of God. But hate runs rampant in 2019, and many choices, actions, reactions are fuelled by hatred.

We simply cannot see beyond ourselves most often because we live in a loveless world. “Love everyone” is painted on banners but one human can hate another just because of the color of their skin.

We must have vision. We must be able to see beyond what is right in front of us, and to do that we must have love. Love for God, and love for our brothers and sisters. If we don’t have love, what do we truly possess?

1 Corinthians 13:2 tells us that we could be able to many incredible things, especially in the kingdom of God, but if we didn’t love others.. we would have nothing.

Love that person that has walked away from truth. Love the person that you know has gossiped about you and hurt you. Love the person struggling with addiction or mental illness.

If we loved more, would we be able to see more clearly?

Jesus, I am thankful for Your love today. You paid an incredible price for my freedom and that’s a debt I’ll never be able to repay. I pray today that You will help me to see others through Your eyes, and to have a heart that is guided by Your love and wisdom.

“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”

Romans 8:37

I love reading scripture in different translations! This verse for example breaks it down so simple for us. Despite anything this world may throw at us, we have OVERWHELMING victory. What an incredible thought to start your day ladies, YOU have overwhelming victory over anything that comes your way today.

Facing heartache and despair? You have victory.

Struggling to find peace in a broken marriage? You have victory.

Dealing with a crisis of faith? You have victory.

Feeling weary and worn from the day to day battle? You have victory.

Face this day with confidence that God is always with you, and He loves you beyond measure. You are a precious jewel to Him, and He absolutely adores you.

Today I thank you God for overwhelming victory in battle! You are my shield and protector and more importantly, You love me!

“So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.”

Galatians 5:1

It’s been a week of celebrating freedom in Canada and the USA. I’m sure at one point or another we have each taken a moment to thank God that we live in a country that allows us to worship freely. I am so thankful that I can enter into His presence without worry that my life may be in danger.

I am also thankful that Christ has set me free from the bondage of sin. He has redeemed me and my past no longer has control over me. This scripture tells us though to “stay free” and to not get tied up in slavery again. Oftentimes we blame situations or tragedies for our current spiritual state or for how bad we are struggling or battling through a season.

Ultimately, it’s up to us though. Yes, we can always find freedom in Him and deliverance – but we must make the daily choice to stay clear of temptations and situations that will bind us. His desire is for us to remain free, as He paid an incredible price for us to do so.

Be aware of your surroundings, and what you allow into your home and mind. Is the way you’re living right now going to cause you to sacrifice your freedom, or will it draw you closer to God?

Lord, help me to recognize when I am going down the wrong path. Help me to be aware of my choices, and that every choice has a consequence or reward. I want to draw closer to You, so help me to stay away from anything that hinders that from happening.
