“The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth” (Psalm 145:18, New King James Version). The crowd gathered on Mount Carmel and listened as the challenge was made. One man stood alone, facing 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the groves. The question: which god was the God? It was time to make a choice, Elijah declared. “Then Elijah approached all the people and said, ‘How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him. But if Baal, follow him.’ But the people didn’t answer him…
The Message version of the Bible says, “You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless night. Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book” (Psalm 56:8). Your search for God reveals that He is right there with you. He hears and He sees all that has to do with you. The writer of this Psalm, King David, feared for his life at the hands of Saul and was hiding out with Ziphites when they told Saul where he was. David was in a desperate situation and God heard him. Be assured that He doesn’t ever leave you; even when it seems your world is turning upside down. Just call His name for He is right there with you.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for listening when I call upon You. I’m so glad I learned that You are as close as the mention of Your name. It’s good to know You are a strong tower we can run to when the enemy comes in like a flood.

“I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1-2
We sometimes sing a chorus in church, “If it had not been the Lord who was on my side, tell me where would I be?”
Sometimes as we look back over our lives, we realize that life would have been a lot different if we had not come to know the Lord when we were younger. We see others that walked a different path and where their lives are today. It makes me thankful that I heard about Jesus when I was just a child, and that He has kept me though the years.
Though I may not have always walked as close to Him as I should, yet He kept me from a lot of things that could have destroyed my life. His mercy and His love have been extended to me over the years, He has always been there when I called on Him and He has never failed me. Now I can look back at all those times, and realize that He is able to keep me until He calls me home.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I love you, and thank you for always being there for me every step of the way. My hope and trust is in you alone.
